Finding potential new defined contribution
plan business within the Pension Profile database.
Take the entire universe you have as long
as it contains all the plan types in that given universe.
Create a group that has only flexible
benefit and welfare benefit plans. (A)
Create a group that has all plans. (B)
Create another group that has only DC
plans. ( C )
Compare two groups at a time and tag
within the flexible benefit plan universe those sponsors that do
not have any other kind of DC or DB retirement plan. Identify in
the B and C group those plans that don’t appear to have Flexible
benefit or Welfare Benefit plans.
These two groups are great prospects for
either:
developing new defined contribution
plans, or
developing new benefit plan business for
sponsors that may want to implement benefit plans for their
employees.
Consider when setting up the DC plan that
forfeitures could either be distributed amongst the remaining
participants or used to help fund the annual contribution. Both
points of plan design should be discussed with the sponsors and
will be of interest depending upon their goals.
Hope this helps out.
